Animal caretakers with a natural, positive approach

Here’s what our happy clients are saying:

Erika and Patrick are absolutely incredible! We are a family who travels a fair amount, and when we were thinking about bringing a dog into our house, we figured we would find a boarding kennel when we went out of town and that would be that. Once we had our goldendoodle Daphne, we realized that sending her to a kennel was in no way what would be best for her and that we wanted her to be taken care of in our home when we were away — by warm and loving caretakers with a positive approach to animal care. We wanted to find caretakers who would appreciate her “puppiness” and treat her with respect and gentleness – based on a clear understanding and solid knowledge of dog behavior. Erika and Patrick are exactly that team. They love our dog as we do, are incredibly thorough and responsible, and listen carefully to our needs. When Erika and Patrick come to take care of Daphne, she is so happy to see them that she can barely contain herself. She quickly settles in with a chew toy on either Patrick or Erika’s lap. She is relaxed and happy when we return. This speaks more loudly and clearly to their incredible skill and kindness than anything our mere human selves could write!

I have two cats and live in an apartment. My regular cat-sitter planned to be away for the holidays, so I contacted Perfect Pair Animal Care to care for my cats over the 2011 Christmas holiday weekend. One cat is 13 years old and requires medication twice daily; the other is 5 years old and enjoys company. Erika and Patrick were very easy to work with from the initial appointment in my apartment to meet the cats and get a sense of what was needed for their care. The paperwork was easy to fill out. During the time I was away, Erika and Patrick made two visits each day with wonderful written notes about eating habits and other general observations.
It was especially nice to have phone numbers in case of emergencies. When I returned I sent an email to Erika and received a prompt response with pictures of my two felines. I recommend Perfect Pair Animal Care. I will definitely use their services in the future.

For several years, we resisted the notion of getting our kids a dog because of our busy professional and personal travel schedule. As anyone with a new puppy knows, it is critical to get them into a routine and set schedule in their new home as they become a new member of the family. When we finally broke down and brought home Deke – our new yellow lab puppy – we did everything we could to make him comfortable in his new surroundings and establish that schedule. As Deke was adjusting to his new surroundings, however, we were quickly faced with another trip, this time for a long weekend hockey tournament, and the prospect of having to disrupt everything by leaving little Deke at a kennel. We could not stand the thought of taking him out of his new home. So our search began. That is when we discovered Erika and Patrick. After we contacted them, they came to our house, met with us, asked a million questions about Deke, his likes and dislikes, his schedule, training, etc., and quickly provided us with a detailed summary of how his days would be spent with them if they cared for him in our home. They are experienced dog trainers, but most importantly for us, they are warm and friendly and Deke took to them immediately. Although we were still nervous to leave Deke with someone else for the first time, those nerves quickly went away after we left. Erika provided us with regular updates and pictures while we were away and everything went off without a hitch. When we returned home, it was like we had never left. The house was in perfect order, Deke was happy and healthy, and his schedule and training proceeded uninterrupted. We could not recommend Erika and Patrick more highly!

Erika and Patrick are amazing. My husband and I have two dogs. One is your normal happy-go-lucky dog — he loves everyone and everything. The other, Bryn, is clingy and very afraid of new people and new places (she flunked multiple doggy daycare evaluations). We love our dogs — and also enjoy traveling.
Unfortunately, Bryn makes it extremely difficult to travel — we feel anxious leaving her behind and a kennel is out of the question. Different trainers that we have used recommended Perfect Pair Animal Care. We decided to give them a try for an upcoming trip and we couldn’t have been more pleased with the results. We knew during our initial consult with Erika and Patrick that our two dogs would be just fine. We were correct!
It was the most worry-free trip that we have taken since adopting Bryn. We were provided with status updates/pictures during our trip (BOTH dogs had smiles). Erika and Patrick were very accommodating and ensured that the dogs’ normal routine was followed as closely as possible. When we returned home we assumed we would be met with over-exuberant barks/ insane cries of joy because the dogs would be so lonely and anxious without us. Instead we were met by a couple of calm, happy dogs with wagging tails.
We are already planning our next trip!

I was so lucky to find Perfect Pair Animal Care this year. Erika Hunter has provided overnight care and mid-day walks for my dog Roscoe several times. Roscoe is a five year old Shepherd mix who is fun loving, but an anxious dog around strangers. She helped us introduce the two of them before our first vacation away and everything went well. She is trust-worthy and always goes above and beyond making our dog comfortable while we are away and updates me everyday as to how things are going. She has always left our house very clean after returning home from vacation…even washing and drying a blanket Roscoe had gotten sick on. I highly recommend this service for your pet!

We have used Perfect Pair Animal Care as our dog sitter for about six months or so. They were recommended to us by a trainer we’re using for our young dog (Sunshine), who is rescue dog with severe anxiety problems. We use Perfect Pair to do regular mid-day visits one day a week, and to dog-sit for us when we’re traveling. I have nothing but good things to say about Erika and Patrick.
They are extraordinarily good at dealing with Sunny – careful, loving, and always willing to go the extra mile. Sunny has now gotten totally comfortable with both Erika and Patrick – a status only two or three other people outside the family have achieved – and now sleeps on the bed with Erika when she stays overnight when we travel. I love that I get email reports for each mid-day visit and daily reports for petsitting while we travel.
Erika and Patrick are not only great with my anxiety-ridden dog, they are totally responsible, and ready to deal with whatever happens to come up. The last time we traveled, my husband accidentally locked the bolt lock on the door Erika uses to get into the house. When she couldn’t get in, she calmly called me to discuss the situation, then called a locksmith, waited for him to come and unlock the door, and paid him out of pocket. That’s but one example of Perfect Pair’s extraordinary service.
I recommend Perfect Pair Animal Care highly, and without reservation.

Our dog Chelsea has some challenging behavior issues. We never thought we would be able to find a pet sitter who would be qualified to handle her special needs so that we could go away. That was before our dog trainer referred us to Erika and Patrick. We were impressed by their knowledge of positive behavior management techniques and the way that Chelsea just took to them as if they were part of our family. We now hire Erika and Patrick to take care of Chelsea every time that we go away because we know that Chelsea (as well as our home) will be just fine under their care. Erika and Patrick are trustworthy professionals who are prompt, courteous, great at what they do, and clearly love their work.
